The surface of Pasithea is based on NASA lunar mapping data, using published information about the Moon's topography to recreate its distinctive terrain.

That digital information becomes the starting point for a physical sculpted surface.

Rather than simply printing a photograph of the Moon, the aim is to translate lunar elevation and surface detail into something you can actually see in relief.

Surface detail becomes particularly interesting when light is introduced.

Pasithea uses 174 individually controlled RGBW LEDs across the lunar surface together with a separate rear halo, allowing light and shadow to emphasise the relief.
